A day with Saylor

Saylor's elementary school participated in a minor league baseball game event sponsoring reading. The kids got to walk around the field and then watch the game.

Unfortunately, there was rain and only about 30 people were at the park. Compared to Michael's experience at Nationals Stadium, this was SO lame. So I took her to Chuck E Cheeses to play some games and then out to a real pizzeria for dinner. She ended up having a great time, but I am probably going to have to take them to see a game in Baltimore...the Yankees are coming down here in June... :)

It brings me a little twinge of sadness (that's not really the right word but I'm not coming up with what the right word is) that Eowyn will only be "the baby" for another month or so until baby #4 gets here. She is such a delight and a true joy. I know she will still be a delight and true joy but it will be different because she will all the sudden be "big sister" instead of "baby". That's a BIG change! She is just so fun-I love her so.

Opening Day April 5, 2010

Coming in at a close second (with Christmas and Easter tied for first) and barely beating out the birthdays of my children, Opening Day of the baseball season has a special place in my life. I remember a game when I was 11, Rickey Henderson was leading off and we were just getting settled in our seats when he smacked a home run; the crowd went crazy and I was in awe - I think some drunk guy behind me kept hitting me on the head with a blow-up bat towards the end of the game, but there's always some "drunk guy" at baseball games so I may be remembering a different game.

Anyway; although not quite the Yankees and not quite The Stadium - I had a great time taking Mikey to his very first Opening Day of the Nationals. It was pretty cool. Roy Halladay was pitching for the Phillies, and I have always liked him. The weather was sunny and there were plenty of Yankees fans there to draw the ire of the losers of last years World Series. So it was a great day. Oh, and President Obama threw out the first pitch, so we got to see snipers on the roof - that was pretty cool.

Easter Weekend

We had a very full weekend full of Easter Baskets, kite flying, Easter-Egg-Hunts, and, of course, General Conference. It was a good weekend, however, I am exhausted. For some reason sitting around watching conference really tired me out. Who knew?

The National Cherry Blossom Festival

We headed downtown for the Cherry Blossom Festival. They were very beautiful and it was very crowded. We were blessed with a gorgeous day. Here are some pictures of our outing.

After a full day of being in the warm sun we got ice cream at the mall where we parked. We are pretty messy ice cream eaters.

(PS-I watch this darling boy three times a week and this is my last month to have him before the baby comes. I'm pretty torn about it. He is Eowyn's best friend.)

Michael is 5!!!

Yesterday and today we celebrated Michael's 5th birthday. He got to choose two friends to go anywhere he wanted. He choose to take them to Chuck E Cheese's and the farm. I think they all had a good time.

This morning we woke Michael up to a "Lightning McQueen" pancake breakfast. It's our tradition that they can open up one present at breakfast.

After Church Mike wanted to open all the rest of his gifts. The theme of this year must have been motor vehicles. Besides the garbage truck Grandma and Grandpa gave him some Lightning McQueen cars. Nana and Pops gave him a big set of hotwheels and some more Lightning McQueen cars (yeah, and we still don't have a complete set yet-go figure!) He got a race track and to switch it up a bit we also gave him some trains. He could not have been more delighted.
